SDA, SIL & ILO Assessments
Occupational therapy assessments for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Individualised Living Options (ILO).
The three assessment types
- SDA — whether a person meets the criteria for specialist housing, and what design category fits
- SIL — the type and hours of daily support a person needs to live safely, and how it is best delivered
- ILO — an exploration of the living arrangement a person wants and the mix of supports to make it work
What is involved
An occupational therapist gathers information through interview, standardised tools and observation of daily tasks — at the person’s home where possible. With consent we also seek input from family, support workers and other treating professionals, and review existing reports.
The report
You receive an evidence-based report written to the NDIS requirements for that assessment type, setting out current function, support needs, options considered and clear recommendations, ready for a planning meeting or plan review.
Common Questions
Still not sure? Call the clinic on 0493 719 759 and we'll talk it through.
Who can request one of these?
The participant, a family member, a support coordinator or a plan manager. A referral is not required; any existing functional or medical reports help.
How long does it take?
Typically one to two appointments plus report-writing time. SDA and complex SIL assessments take longer because more evidence is required.
