Tele-Health Services
Secure video sessions with the same therapist you would see in clinic — well suited to regional families, parent coaching and quick reviews.
When telehealth works well
Telehealth is not a lesser version of in-person therapy — for many goals it is just as effective, and for some it is better because the session happens where the skill is actually used.
- Families outside the Forest Lake and Coorparoo catchments, or in regional Queensland
- Parent and carer coaching, where the adult is the one learning the strategies
- Reviews, check-ins and home-programme updates between blocks of in-person work
- School and workplace sessions where travel time would eat into the appointment
- Weeks when illness, transport or work would otherwise mean a cancelled session
How a session runs
You join a private video link on a device you already have — a laptop, tablet or phone. We send any activities, visuals or worksheets ahead of time. During the session the therapist guides you or your child through tasks, watches how things go in your own environment, and adjusts on the spot. Sessions are the same length as in clinic.
What you need
- A reasonably stable internet connection
- A quiet-ish space and a device with a camera
- For young children, an adult nearby to help keep things on track
- Any items the therapist asks you to have ready (usually everyday household objects)
Common Questions
Still not sure? Call the clinic on 0493 719 759 and we'll talk it through.
Is telehealth as effective as coming in?
For most goals, yes. The evidence for telehealth speech pathology and occupational therapy is strong, particularly where a parent or carer is coached to deliver strategies. Your therapist will tell you if a particular goal is better suited to in-person work.
Can we mix telehealth and clinic sessions?
Yes. Many families do an initial in-person assessment, then alternate or switch to telehealth as it suits their week.
Does NDIS or Medicare cover telehealth?
Telehealth is claimable the same way as an in-person session under NDIS, and under Medicare care plans where the criteria are met. See our fees and funding page.
